What to do while you wait…wait…to receive diagnosis!

Got asked to speak to a family whose daughter is going through the journey of diagnosis.

Being diagnosed in PNG is such a process! I felt lump in August 2023 and did first screening in October 2023 and fully diagnosed in February 2024!

4 months!

*Public health experience – obviously private is less waiting time*

From finding lump to full diagnosis – 6 months!

Half a year.

August – October: 2 months of contemplating, over thinking where or how and when to get the lump checked.

October to February: Screening, scanning, biopsy, more scanning to receive diagnosis.

A lot of time waiting to receive back results, waiting for the scheduled date for next scan time availability, waiting for available time to do biopsy, waiting in line, waiting…..

Last night call with the family, they have been in and out 2 months already trying to get to diagnosis of a lump and they yet to reach diagnosis.

What to do while waiting. What to do before finding the lump, what to do now when we have minimal health issues. What to do while you contemplate getting screened or doing the health check.

Today is B – Brocolli 🥦🥦🥦

Eat brocolli while waiting.

No brocolli? Eat whatever green leafy vegetables that you can find – eat it.

Aopa, Pumpkin tips, kalava, karakap, choko ..PNG we have no reason to not eat greeeeen!

And drink soursop Brew! 🌿🌿

And if anyone knows everything about soursop and it’s benefits. He the soursop guy 😊

And if you have a soursop tree growing in your yard. Start making use of it! Have soursop leaf tea instead of coffee ☕

And tomorrow post is C for Charcoal! ◼️

But it has to be part of this “waiting” post and well it’s not any charcoal it has to be Activated Charcoal so that’s AC between the B! 😁

My local Activated Charcoal supplier EvelynImaroto Oli and Benedict Oli – jar or bag for K50 ( can last over a couple of months depending on intake)

Incorporate these into your diet today! Like literally today!

If only I started this phase waaaay before and kept consistent … I’d probably still keep those precious body parts 🥹

But all things work for the good… So while we still can and able.

Incorporate ABC in your diet today! I say incorporate because “changing diet” can be a bit too harsh for some..so incorporate, small adjustments, small steps…

Early hours in the morning a tablespoon of Activated Charcoal in warm water and drink – before any intake of food.

During the day, eat some brocolli, kumu or other local vegetables fresh and available

(By the way the SME food place at Waigani sells yummy brocolli for a local, scrumptious lunch option)

Night time, morning time and between hours time drink some soursop brew!

First time I got a bottle from Ashley it took me 2 1/2 days to finish the 1.5L.

I now can drink the 1.5L Yanguuuuruuu drop or wanem ol sa tok! 🤣

Ps. Brocolli, soursop brew and activated charcoal is not just for cancer patients, it’s for everydaaaay people! Just like salt you add to your food daily.. add these in your diet more!
